Schrodinger’s Racist.
Because every white person is suspect because even the ‘nicest of the nice’ white person can be a ginormous racist and Black people literally HAVE NO CLUE when or where or how that racism will come out. And we have to be on alert AT ALL TIMES. And that takes a hell of a lot of mental energy.

This is sad, but it is quite true.
Sorry.

reasons why i am constantly told to be more trusting of people and less cynical. and reasons why i’d rather be cynical and an untrustworthy bitch than dead, raped, in jail or fucked over.

“Schrodinger’s Islamophobe” doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, but the principle is the same. I can’t even count how many times I’ve been blind-sided by someone suddenly spouting some extreme bigotry about Islam, Muslims or hijab.

At least that’s what it’s like for me.
Well, this, except, the faceless invisible blob is actually my mother.
Hello, J and are live the same life.
omg it’s totally my mom!
Yeah… It’s totally my mother.

taking a day off does not automatically mean you’re taking a self-care day.
if the energy spent on that day off is negative, and if you spend the time beating yourself up about taking the day off, and if there isn’t active energy spent on taking care of yourself and building your self-love, it’s…
This is really true. We all need to take some time to be kind to ourselves.

Blundervist (n) - a person who calls themselves an activist, but in fact just blunders wildly around making everything worse. See also: blundervism
Blundervism is characterised by well-meaning but inane attempts to “tackle” an issue, usually by people not directly affected by said issue. It often involves silencing those actually affected, e.g. women, minorities, POC etc etc.
Blundervists typically propose ridiculously over-simplified solutions to highly complex problems, and then wonder why no one takes them seriously. Typical examples include things like “If everyone just stopped SEEING RACE, racism would go away!” and other inanities.
Blundervists can demonstrate a staggering ignorance of commonly used terms such as “PoC” or “intersectionality” or “privilege”. If they’ve heard the term, they may not really grasp what it means or will wildly mis-apply it. They rarely Google anything they don’t understand, preferring instead to blunder on in ignorance or, worse, to ask people to stop the discussion and give them a Racism/Feminism 101 lesson.
Blundervists frequently trot out common derailing tactics out of sheer ignorance and lack of awareness, and then get upset and confused when they’re called out on it.
A blundervist in a conversation has the effect of slowing any complex discussion to a virtual standstill whilst everyone cleans up after them and tries to get them to stop blundering around breaking things.
Blundervists would make good allies (they MEAN WELL, after all…), if only they’d stop talking and listen once in a while. Or, better yet, employ their Google-fu and educate themselves in their own time.
I hate when American women act all surprised that women in other countries (especially Middle Eastern and African ones) identify as feminists, then patronize the fuck out of them. It’s like, seriously? You think you invented that shit? -_-
I hate this attitude because it taps into the narrative of “stupid oppressed foreign women who need saving by White Westerners”.
It’s also completely without nuance of any kind.
